In class I didn’t use the compete to win technique, avoidance, accommodation. I would have used compromise if we decided to do an essay as well. I wasn’t really up for the essay because I thought that we would loose too many points if you don’t know one part. I was more of a collaborator.
I wasn’t the leader in class where I went up and asked people what they thought because I felt that too many people were up there so I was making suggestions from my seat. I think at times they weren’t coordinated and I didn’t think they were getting somewhere in the beginning but later on I felt that everyone was working together and making decisions when they were just asking everyone as they were going on instead of making little groups and talking about what to do. But I guess we all managed and came up with something, and it worked the way I wanted to because I really didn’t want an essay on the test.

I did the similar thing as you, only I didn't talk at all...I just sat there and listen to what others were saying and being annoyed when people complaining one after another, it felt like we would never reached an agreement. I think it is good to be a collaborator, at least you made some suggestions, even though I think a lot of people didn't care what other people want, they just want what is best for them. In the end, people had to agree because its either getting some benefits or nothing at all, so regardless all the problem and frustration, it was still a good result. And I thought we are having a essay, are we not??
hi, good job if you were able to get people together amongst your group. One thing though, we are definably having an essay on the next exam. personally I think he graded very leniently for it, but it would of helped if we knew which chapter the focus would be on.
I agree that the majority of people in our class were either collaborating or using the avoidance method. But I do think that collaborating was positive because of the size of our class that was large. Everybody had their own opinions and it kind of seemed like everyone was competing against each other to get their points and views around.
yea werd I did the same thing. Too many kids were talking so i justed stayed out of it too. Thats the best thing to do when theres like 5 leaders.
you showed a group job bringing in the people in your group and getting things in order. It was chaos in that class, and having people staying quiet was not very helpful.
You're absolutely right that we should've just started off looking at all of the options together as a class instead of having a bunch of little groups. Ultimately those little groups did not do much for us in the end because we would need everyone's agreement in order for something to work. But I suppose that one area in which they were useful is that they were good for brainstorming.
Agreed, I was going to do the same thing and be in the audience, but I just wanted to see what the people were discussing. I know I wasnt the best "leader", however we got what the majority of us wanted, with the exception of the essay being taken out. lol
